UWSL has setup a dedicated Internship and Placement Department to look after the affairs of internship and placement. The department takes care of the need and preferences of students and assists them in procuring internship on their behalf within the regulatory framework. Right from clustering of interest to the communication of internship confirmation, everything is taken care of by the department. We also take care of any special request such as preference of place, forum etc.
Our department has proudly placed its students in topmost law firms, companies, PSUs, Maharatna companies and etc. for internship. To name a few of them our students have interned at Reliance, HPCL, Ambuja Exports, GEMI, IFCI, AIR, GFCL, GMB, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas, Juris Corp, Kanga & Co., India Law Firm, Singhi & Co., Nanavati Associates, Jani & Jani, Samvitti Legal, Legalwiz, GNLU Center for Sports & Entertainment Law etc.
Recognising that internship is a mandatory requirement for the successful completion of five year BBA.LL.B course, pedagogy at UWSL has been developed to give utmost importance to it. We firmly believe that a proper blend of internship and classroom teaching is a sina qua non for the holistic development of a law student.
Therefore, keeping this in mind we have designed our internship schedule in sync with curriculum to ensure that students get practical experience in subjects taught during lectures.
Internship programme is in full compliance with the regulatory requirements of Bar Council of India, mandating students to intern at Trial Court / Sessions Court / Appellate Court / tribunals / High Court / Law firm / companies / the Supreme Court etc.
Therefore, considering the statutory mandate, we assist our students in procuring internship at various forums. In the very first semester we send our student to intern at NGO or Consumer forum followed by trial court, sessions court, legal department, legislative department, labour court, VAT tribunal, law firms, PSUs, companies, High Court and Supreme Court in successive semesters so that they can effectively correlate class room teachings with practical working of Law.
Selection of forum for internship depends upon the domain knowledge of students and subjects already taught by the end of respective semesters.
In addition of procuring internship we do encourage our students to secure PPO (Pre placement offer) for job.
