Day 1: Juvenile delinquency and rehabilitation of offenders
On 11th July 2017, Dr. Michael Pittaro interacted with the students of Unitedworld School of Law. He took sessions on general introduction to concept on Juvenile delinquency and rehabilitation of offenders for Sem VII (3rd year). He also took an introductory session for 2nd year students of UWSL on Certificate course on Criminology.
Day 2: Terrorism and Cyber Terrorism
Dr. Michael Pittaro took the session on Terrorism and Cyber Terrorism with the 3rd year students of Unitedworld School of Law on 12th July. He spoke about what is cyber terrorism and what is the effect of the same on the global Peace and Economy. While discussing about his latest book ‘Crimes of the Internet’, he also stated how recruiting is done for the terror groups by using Internet Communication.
Day 3: Workshop on ‘Child Rights against Exploitation: Global Perspective’
Workshop on ‘Child Rights against Exploitation: Global Perspective’ commenced with a presentation of dance on the theme ‘Child Rights’ by three talented UWSL students Sanjana, Choitali and Mauni. The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Michael Pittaro, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at the American Military University, West Virginia, was then honored with delicious handmade chocolates prepared by the students Mihika, Mauni and Mansi. Later, Dr. Debarati Haldar (Head of Dept., Research) along with Devanshi Pandya (A student of Sem-7) presented the pilot study on the prevalence of child marriages and child labor in Ahmadabad & Gandhinagar areas. It was followed by a presentation by Dr. Michael Pittaro on child sexual abuse from US perspectives. He also spoke on the prevalence of child pornography adoption rackets and sex trafficking. Lastly, Prof. Amol Shetty concluded the event by sharing some of his life experiences.
